New Year's Resolutions, Day 1

Okay, so last week, I listed the New Year's resolution list. Today, January 1st, day 1 of the new me, has begun. So far, I have not quit anything. Some things have not started yet, but nothing quit. Good track record thus far.

Here's where I am on my goals:

- Spend more time with my husband. Individual time...quality time. Not, let's run to the grocery store time. Joined a gym together. Spent this afternoon working out....together. We enjoyed it, feel better, and spent valuable time together. Car ride over and back was nice as well - time to just talk with minimal to no distractions. He's currently in the next room on the computer. We'll work on that. =)

- Further my education. This does not have to be in the form of actual schooling, but I want to learn more about something. It doesn't even have to be school related, or degree related. I just want to enlighten myself more. Anyone have any suggestions? No real decision yet as to how I want to further my education, but a current understanding that I need to make that decision soon. Important to know what I want to do, so that I am able to do it.

- Focus on my health. Ah, the innevitable blip about how I do not focus enough on my health goals, and therefore every year challenge myself to do something about it. This year will be no different. At least, in the challenge that is. Hopefully, with some due dilegence, the outcome will change. Focus includes getting rid of excess weight, unwanted cough, blood pressure medicine, and crazy pills. Crazy pills would be an amazing feat....those are likely with me for life. Health focus beginning. Joined gym (see above) with added benefit of unlimited tanning included. Gym is only $20 a month, is huge, has free personal training classes, all kinds of facilities, and free tanning. Oh, and only one of us needed to join, because you can bring a guest for free, every time you come. Tanning benefit great - will be able to not look like a ghost in near future. Could add health problems if over done, but recognize that now, so will be conscience of it. Not planning on doing it regularly...honestly, just want to kick start my current state of clear. Plan to make dr's appointment for cough tomorrow, so hopefully that will be resolved soon. Still taking crazy pills and blood pressure medicine, but forgot to do that so far today. Still does not translate to "stop taking it." Eating healthier, drinking water. Good start. Recognize it's only day one. Typing this will hopefully help keeping myself accountable. Oh, and took before pictures. Yuck.

- Be happier. Stop going through the motions of life and enjoy them. Take some time to stop and smell the roses. Had an epihany yesterday, and realized that there is really nothing I've ever liked so much that I've been passionate about it. With that understanding, looking for something that I love and can be passionate about. Wonder if I'm not a passionate person. Seems that I am....not convinced though. Believe that passion is important to find things that make you happy. Am I right?

- See friends and family more. Spend that free time seeing people that you don't normalily get to. See friends as much as possible. Visit family as much as possible. Saw Melissa today. Haven't seen her in a really long time. Step in right direction. Saw Eric and Mom a couple of days ago...also a step in the right direction. Grandfather had massive heart attack today, and I'm not there. Family says don't come...nothing I can do. Not happy with that...but don't want to be in the way. Plans to go down there as soon as I'm given the red light. Will be able to see family then. Yeah!

- Plan outings. Go to them. Okay, no outings planned yet. It's only day 1. Give me a break.

- Eliminate something significant off that "always wanted to do list." Current ideas: make the t-shirt quilt (this could also serve as the education, since I would need both to complete this task), jump out of a plane, visit California, just to name a few. Ideas? Also day 1. No definite plans yet. Realize that I need to make that plan though.

- Get myself promoted and out of this current position as near as possible to September 1st. This goal is actually carried over from 2006, but can not be accomplished earlier than the September 1st date. I told myself I'd be in this position for a year...Sept. 1st will be the one year date. Okay, so that didn't happen today...but since i didn't work and no one's in the office, I didn't expect that. Good news though - I'm going to be stepping out of my role for a month, and working with the marketing department. Great step in the right direction - I'm one of only 16 people selected in the company to do this. Conscience decision made to shine...will certainly help in getting me promoted.

- Do not quit my job in March. Sounds silly, I know, but I have a track record of 3.5 years with a company. March 07 will be my 3.5 year mark. I don't have any intentions of leaving, and do not really want to, but it all starts out that way. If I do leave, make it worth while. Not March yet. Have not quit my job today. So far, so good.

- Love more, argue less. Smile more, pout less. No arguments today - heated debate yesterday. Yesterday was so 2006. Today, good. Got frustrated today that Ben was not getting motivated about going to the gym. Must work on patience. Will certainly help with the less pouting (and less arguing) goal.

- Overcome my cold calling weaknesses. Will begin tomorrow.

- Don't get fired. So far, so good.

- Learn to love my current position. Currently not miserable. Not in love with it, but happy most days to get up and do the job. Good start in the right direction. Changing other areas of life certain to assist in liking this one more.

- Complete this list prior to December 31, 2007. That's a long time from now.
